Ive got allergies up the ying yang. their really bad and when coupled with my asthma it really sucks. i was wondering what things you people do to help relieve their allergies. heres just some things i want to know about….

Air purifiers- do they work? what kinds work best for you. Id sorta like to get one with a permanent filter you can just wipe off..suggestions…

Medications- ive does most everything….clairitin ect.anything that works REALLY well out there? persciption or non?

any other info you have.

i already know about allergy shots also. and im allergic to pollen and dust ect. the works. everything but food


Niles: If you want to get serious about controlling your allergies instead of letting them control you….it can be done. It takes some effort and some initial expense, but you will reap the benefit for years. I know, I have had severe allergies for most of my life. Years ago, I was misdiagnosed with Chronic Fatigue, turns it is was really uncontrolled allergy. So here is what I did….(like you I have no food allergies). I got serious about my exposure to the things to which I am allergic (like you dust and pollen as well as some molds). I started with encasing every single scrap of bedding in my house in dust mite proof encasements. In addition, I wash my sheets every Sunday with the De-Mite stuff. (I will give you a link). I have NO carpeting or area rugs in my house (just little throw rugs I can wash with De-Mite). I have 3 Austin Air HEPA machines. (I will give you a link that will help you figure out what machine is best for you). I have a UV light installed above the coils in my AC system to keep it and my ducts clean. I have an electrostatic filter for my AC that I clean once a month. (where I live you have to use AC almost year round) I don't use toxic cleaners in my house. I use only soy-based cleaners, so they don't irritate my lungs. Enviro-Rite is the brand I use, but there are several at the health food store. The plants in my yard all produce yellow, waxy pollen and these are not the pollens to which I am allergic. You want plants that use bugs to pollinate, not the wind. Now here is the kicker……..I no longer take ANY medication! I didn't get my house set up like this overnight, it has taken time, effort, and some money, but it is easy to maintain and clean, and I am not sick. If you are serious about controlling those allergies..you can do it too. Just make up your mind! Read the links I am providing.
