Appetite medication for cancer patients?
My has cancer and is taking both chemo and raiation. She has no appetite as a result. Are there any OTC or BTC medicines she can take to have an appetite—other than marijuana?
I take megace syrup. I'm sure if she asked for it, the onc would give it to her. Megace doesn't work right away on me though, I have to take it the day before and then usually at 4AM the next day I wake up so hungry.
I went from 140 down to 103. I'm not taking megace anymore because I feel like I have a healthier appetite now. But megace is probably responsible for 10 of the 15 pounds I've put on.
There is a synthetic thc pill called marinol. It is a legal rx and insurance *should cover with prior approval

And steroids. Prednisone will make any body eat everything in sight, and they are likely already giving her a small dose in the chemo cocktail.
Yes. Marinol, Megace, Oxandrolone, Oxymetholone, and the protease inhibitors. But she would need a medical evaluation to see if she fit criteria for any of these.
