  1. In Pennsylvania, you have to get a TB test every 2 years if you work with kids and maybe some other jobs. It is a shot in the arm. Then they draw a circle around the injection site. You have to go back to the doctor's office in 2 days to see if there is any swelling. It shows if you have been exposed to the disease called tuberculosis. If you get a bump on your arm, then you have to get a chest x-ray to make sure you don't have the disease. That happened to my mom once and she did not have it. I found out one thing the hard way, if they tell you to come back to have it checked on a certain day or at a certain time, make sure you do. Some places will not give you back the paper you need to get signed if you come back on the wrong day or at the wrong time. It does not hurt any more than any other shot.

It is a test to see if you have tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs. But, TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. TB disease was once the leading cause of death in the United States.
TB is spread through the air from one person to another. The bacteria are put into the air when a person with active TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs or sneezes. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected.

  3. It is basically a test to see if your immune system responds to a Tuberculin injection, meaning…..have you been exposed to Tuberculosis (a highly communicable respiratory disease that can kill the young and immuno-comprimised).

In my case, healthcare workers are tested yearly, and upon new hire, so that they don't spread anything. They take a small hypodermic needle and innoculate you intradermally (between skin layers, not under the skin). It doesn't hurt, just a mild sting. They look for a raised lump and red irritation/swelling/rash to develop 48-72 hours later. No reaction means your immune system has seen that bug before, reaction means you need immunizations for TB.

  4. it is to test tuberculosis. I get many of them for the army and no it doesn't hurt. All they do is stick a needle just under the skin on your forearm. Then I think it is 48 hours later they read it. If there is a bump then you are positive for carrying it. If there is no bump then nothing to worry about. Trust me I have had many of them.

  5. tb.. as in tuberculosis?

is a mycobaterium disease which mainly attacks the chest, but sometimes nervous system too.. its pretty serious.

the test is tricky, its a VERY slow growing organism so it can take up to 4-10 weeks to confirm its presence even in a lab, but usually youd get a chest xray, blood test obviously, a skin test where they trial cultures and reactions.. it shows weather uve been in contact which can give them a pretty fast idea.

only be worried if your being tested for meningitis o.O that hurts.

  6. A TB test is a test used to diagnose tuberculosis
I got one when I started working in the medical field and it doesn't hurt. A little needed with fluid is inserted right under your skin and 48-72 hrs later the injection site is checked for swelling (a positive result). There are other reasons to receive this test. Below is a link to a website page that will answer all your questions on this.

  7. it's testing for tuberculosis..
it's kind of an old test, most people don't get that test taken. i did because I work with children…
it doesn't hurt it's just a little prick the bubbles up for a second goes down. and a couple days later you go back to get it looked at by usually the nurse.. if there is no reaction which most likely there won't be then you are fine..
I believe it's done in the middle of your lower arm (inside part) .. don't worry about it

  8. tuberculosis test. I got it when i joined job corps it was reqired for all students. it hurt some. it's to make sure you don't have tuberculosis if the lump stays for more then i think 24 hours you have TB

Found a website for more info for you

  9. tuberculosis. you usually get the test when youre 15. Its an airborne disease and once you get it it doesnt go away. The test doesnt hurt, they just push a little pad with two tiny pin things onto your arm. it leaves two little marks and if you have tb it will swell up over a few days

  10. TB = tuberculosis.
Small amount of fluid injected with a very thin needle just under the skin. Stings a little.
After a couple days, the area is examined for a reaction. If there is no reaction, you do not have TB.
I get them every year because I work in health care and it is mandatory.

Edit: here are a couple link I found.

  11. For tuberculosis. Never had one. But if you want to work in food service you have to have one. I have seen a child get one and not cry, so my guess is it doesn't hurt. They prick you and see if the area reacts. It is also called a tb tine test.

  12. It's a test for tuberculosis, which is a very contagious lung disease.. They put a little fluid just under the skin on your forearm and wait to see if you have a reaction. If you do then you have TB if not you're okay.

  13. Tuberculosis.

It doesn't hurt, (maybe just a little sting). It tests for the lung disease of TB which is highly contageous. All people entering the health field or who are going out of the country, must have a TB test.

  14. Tuberculosis test. Got one just over a year ago. It doesnt hurt at all. They inject this stuff in your arm, then a week later you go back to the doctor and they check it to see if you carry TB.
