Steven Johnsons Syndrome is a hypersensitivity reaction where there is necrosis (death of cells) in the epidermal layer due to the loss of the dermis layer of the epidermis. Steven Johnsons Syndrome is a serious condition and can cause blindness and even death.

Epidemiology of Steven Johnsons Syndrome is actually fairly rare, it was only around 2 to 6.1 persons per million inhabitants / year.  Steven Johnsons Syndrome is caused by abnormalities in the immune system of our body. This disorder can be triggered into SJS by the presence of infection and drug intake. Infections that commonly cause SJS include Herpes Simplex, influenza, Mumps. While drugs that commonly cause SJS is mainly from anti convulsion and NSAID groups.

Symptoms and Signs.

At the beginning appears, is not typical of SJS symptoms, including fever, fatigue, dryness in the throat. In the early stages of SJS is indeed difficult to diagnose. At a more advanced stage, reddish lesions appear on the mucosa, especially the lips, mouth and genitalia, reddish lesions will also appear on the skin and can also occur Conjunctivitis

Handling

SJS is a serious condition requiring treatment and hospitalization. Drugs cause of SJS should be discontinued and the patient must rest completely. The most important handling is the rehydration fluids, can also be given analgesics to reduce pain in patients. Giving antibiotics to prevent secondary infection also needs to be done.
