Experiences on quadrupaul bypass surgery & replacing heart valves?
if youve had a family member, or you yourself have gone through these… please explain your experiences!
-the pain
-the recovery
-the deaths
-the cost
I experienced no pain the whole time i was in the hospital. My doctor sent me to emergency because he felt I was having a heart attack because I complained of a jaw ache. It is more common in women to have jaw pain than chest or arm pain. Anyways they found two blocked at 90 and two blocked at 99! I was a dead women walking and didn't even know it! After the surgery my chest felt like cement but never experienced pain. The worst part was not being able to shower! I would rather go through another by-pass than go to the dentist! I swear I felt nothing they gave me some kind of great pain medication in that IV.
My job paid for my surgery and eight years ago it was 70,000
Our family seems to keep the cardiologists in business, so here is the basics of our experiences.
Pain: Generally the pain is not so bad until you go home, because they keep you medicated. If you do like your told and take your meds when you get home, it is more like discomfort with dull pain that eases over a 4 to 6 week period.
Recovery: Depending on age and health, it can be a 4 week to 6 month time period.
Deaths: Only one, but the Quadruple bypass was a last ditch effort and the family member was in poor health with diabetes and other health problems.
Cost: WOW!!!! I hope you have insurance or get with a group that does benefit operations, which they will be able to direct you to services that can incur the expenses and help you.
Hope this helps.
Have you considered medical treatment and surgical help for this in India? My cousin got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare in India.
She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as all types of medical treatment and surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your medical treatment and surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
